Muscle memory and working around injury

    I just got results of an MRI showing bone marrow brusing in my elbow at the tricep insertion point.
    Talking with my physio and specialist I am unable to load my tricep in any way until it heals (about 6months)

    For chest all I can do is;
    Dumbell flys
    Incline/decline dumbell flys

    For shoulders;
    Lateral raises
    Front raises
    Bent over raises

    Can anyone think of any other excersises that wouldn't load the tricep but would work either the shoulders or chest that I haven't listed above?

    I have lost over a stone in 'bulk' over the past 4 months with this injury as I didn't go to the gym at all to try and let my elbow heal.

    Can I expect to make any muscle memory gains from these exercises?

    Can anyone recommend a split/rep range/excersise program with just these excersises to maximise their effectivness?

    If i was you id worry more about getting the injury right than any loss in muscle.

    Otherwise talk to your physio and see what they feel are acceptable exercises for you to do

    I've worried about my injury since it occured and word from specialist and physio is time and rest is the only thing that will heal the injury.

    Physio has told me that as long as I don't load the tricep I'm fine.

    Thats why I'm asking about these exercises to try and get the most out of what I can do without aggrivating the injury.

    Hi There

    Unfortunately the forum charter forbids us giving out advice which may be contrary to that of a qualified professional.

    None of us here are qualified to over rule your physio. All we can advise is that you take their advice.

    The last thing any of us want to do is recommend something that causes you a set back.

    Taking time out to heal especially when it is a number of months sucks. But if that is what was recommended by a professional, you really would be best heeding the advice.

    Sorry I can't be of more help and good luck with healing.

    Best Regards,

    M

    As everyone else said. we cant advise you none of us are qualified and in taking our advice you could do yourself serious injury. I would consult your physio again if you require additional exercises...or at least get his approval before trying any exercise out.

    flashforward - 6 months won't make you ...but could break you. Take the time to recover. This forum cannot advise on what you should do with such issues ... as frankly we don't have a clue. Sorry, but got to lock this.
