Train to Carrigtwohill

My kid got an invitation for his friend's birthday party at the Go Safari (Fota Retail and Business Park) http://www.gosafari.ie/index.html .

Anyone know how can I get there using public transport. Can I use train, probably Cork-Middletown line? I am just not sure is the train station in Carrigtwohill running now? I heard it was un-staffed previously. Price of train ticket?

And how far is from the Carrigtwohill to Fota Business Park? Is it in walking distance ?

    Thanks in advance.

Tbh, Glaunthaun train station is probably closer to that retail park than the Carrigtwohill one. It is the Cork - Midleton line and the stations are unmanned so you just get a ticket from the machine.

I'd say your best bet on public transport is to actually to get the bus to Midleton and ask the driver. I'm not 100% sure there's a stop at the retail park. The nearest one may be a five minute walk away by the Elm Tree pub.

The best thing might be to try and get a lift with some other parent....

I'd drive - you can take the train to Carrig easily but Fota is a decent bit away from the town.

Yeah, but the fota retail park is nowhere near fota really. There may be a bus stop there - I just don't know. That hasn't been the main road in years. Stupid place for a retail park tbh....

Yeah, just wondering why they choose the location like that for retail and Business park.

Anyway, thank you guys for all your responses.

Brown paper bags is why, and the retail park is a failure, check out the empty units everywhere.

Bus is way closer than the train station - the walk would kill ya. Ask the bus driver where to get off.

I drove it this morning - it's 2.5km from Glounthaune train station to the park, so it'd manageable, but it's a trek. actually it might not be manageable depending on how old your kid is. I don't know where this bus stops down there are but I remember there was one right outside the park, so I'd recommend the bus over the train.

they do have plans to put a station at the retail park, but the celtic tiger is looking after that project.
