Greyhound racing Mid-Week Special Offer

There's a promo on at the moment - for €30 per person you get entry to your local greyhound statium (midweek), plus 3 course meal, programme, etc.

I'm thinking of taking Mrs Mambo along for a night out. The choice for me is between Harold's Cross (Mon or Tue) or Shelbourne Park (Wed).

They say a window seat in not guaranteed (fair enough), and I'd be happy enough with a table with a view of the track. If a window seat, all the better.

On the 360-degree views at www.igb.ie I can see some restaurant tables on the top level at Shelbourne Park
    http://www.igb.ie/upload/virtual_tours/Shelbourne/vt/vt.html
which don't seem to have a view of the track, whereas Harold's Cross
    http://www.igb.ie/upload/virtual_tours/Harolds/vt/vt.html
seems to have less tables, all with a view of the track.

So is Harold's Cross a better option?

Any other factors to consider? (We know nothing about "the dogs" so the actual races on offer don't matter a jot)

We went to Harold's Cross in the end, and we got a window table, it was a fun night out, though it was very quiet (a Tues night) with not much atmosphere, and with so few bets on the tote that the effective odds were all over the place.

Tuesday is the quietest at the cross .

    The meal deals are good.

That seems to have been good value. Midweek is usually the quietest, as mentioned above, while Friday evenings are a bit busier, though obviously you wouldn't be guaranteed a window seat! Lots of people go there for work outings or group outings, so if you had a group going it would be a good value and fun night out.
