I got an IK bundle last year. I got Sampletank 2.5L & Miroslav Classik. Both have smaller libraries than the full versions in the current deal. There were some amp sims (Amplitube) in my deal too. I think it was €99 at the time.

For the style of music we do (rock/pop/ambient) they're OK sound-wise... as with anything, some samples are better than others. A couple of things I'd call out:
    • I find IK stuff to be very CPU/RAM intensive. I'm running PTLE on a 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo Intel iMac with 4Gb RAM. Any time I use the IK VSTs, I print to audio as early as possible so I free up the CPU.
    • The user interface on ST & Phil are very small... AFAIK you can't increase the size, so they're not all that easy on the eyes. You can change the colour though (ST has terrible red default interface)

Personally, I'd say €150 for all 5 VSTs would be a great deal. There's new versions of most of them due out pretty soon. Still, even getting 3 of them for €150 isn't bad if you're in the market for VSTs.

Cheers mate. I'm guessing they'll satisfy the group buy requirements pretty sharpish, and as I have very few VSTis as is, I think it might be a good bet. the alternative is to fork out for Kontakt 4, which I'm assuming would wipe the floor with the IK stuff?

I have the IK mirislav stuff. It's pretty old at this stage. Not great in fairness.

I got the east west free play thing, it has a limited number of orchestral pieces but it blows the IK stuff out of the water.

Kontakt 4 is half price at the moment, 125 euros I think for an upgrade from 3.5. It's dearer if upgrading from the Kontakt player though, not sure of the price.
