Chernobyl

    Hi,
I was thinking of going on a trip to Chernobyl which is the site of the nuclear disaster. It would be very interesting for me, a place that has been uninhabited for over 20 years, and wildlife has actually made a big revival there with the absence of human activity. It is also a door to history, and what a typical urban center of the USSR would have looked like. Obviously, a downside would be the high levels of radiation.
To the point....does anyone know if a passport is sufficient to gain entry to the Ukraine?! Or is it necessary to go to the whole bother of obtaining a visa aswell?
    Thanks

I briefly lookied into going there last summer. if I remember right, you can just get a stamp at the border.

As far as radiation goes. It's higher yes, wouldn't really like to live there, but a day trip shouldn't do you much harm at all.

You don't need a visa for Ukraine (if you are an EU citizen). The levels of radiation are not sufficiently high enough to make it a highly restricted area so in fact there are tours available AFAIK.
