Take a run back through history by taking part in the Braveheart Trail Run.
Trim Athletic Club in cooperation with Scurlogstown Olympiad Haymaking Festival and Trim Town Council will stage this 5km rung along the banks of the historic river Boyne. The route will pass the finest collection of medieval monuments in Ireland including Trim castle, the Yellow Steeple, the town walls and the cathedral ruins at SS Peter and Paul at Newtown. Heritage comes alive in Meath

The first Trim Braveheart Trail Race will be staged over a five kilometre course on Friday 18th June at 8pm. The event will be staged along the banks of the Boyne and will take in many of the medieval sites of the town through the Porchfields. It will form part of the Scurlogstown Olympiad Haymaking Festival which attracts thousands of visitors to Meath every year.

The heritage trails of Trim are an excellent leisure resource which should prove popular with runners. Many locations which were included in Braveheart are included along the route.

Trim AC are keen to provide a value for money event and have kept the entry fee low at just ten €10.

There will be the usual category prizes for senior, junior and master runners. The organising club is keen to encourage recreational runners, joggers and walkers to participate. There is a particular effort being made to reward the recreational runner with a generous supply of spot prizes and a generous goody bags.

Entry on the night from 6.30pm at Porchfields Trim. The venue is 20 mins from M3 and M4. Post race entertainment will take the form of a window sill ceili along High St,Trim.
