Taking in blouses/tops?

Has anyone tried to get this done? I have fairly big boobs but the rest of me is fairly slim so that a lot of the shirts and blouses out there fit perfectly across the boobs but then just hang off them, making me look much bigger than I am. Ideally I'd get them taken in from high waist down. Just wondering if anyone has tried it or knows of anywhere in Dublin city centre that might give it a go.

I know there are blouses with more fitted waists but they never seem to fit right (bit of a contradiction to what I'm enquiring about I know).

    Ta.

would you consider taking them in yourself? and especially if you shop a fair bit, getting a seamstress every time might work out time consuming and cost a bit too

Aldi or Lidl have cheap sewing machines from time to time, and to take in a seam is dead easy:

put on inside out if poss, and button up/pin as if closed.

measure from hem, up to under boobs, write on a bit of paper.
pinch from bottom of hem an equal amount on either side and pin, work your way up tapering off at the end.
sit, stretch & move your arms etc so you feel whether its too snug, adjust your pins accordingly.
take off the top and lay flat on table. use tailors chalk to mark a provisional line, up to the measurement on your bit of paper
get measuring tape and at 1.5cm intervals pin horizontally, compare the amount you are taking in to the same on the other side. draw a final line in a different coloured chalk. run through the sewing machine, backstitching at top and bottom so it wont unravel. you can sew over the pins aslong as they are horizontal and you are sewing vertical.
    wear somewhere nice!

Thanks very much for taking the time to write that Neyite. I will definitely look into picking up a sewing machine. Might get a seamstress to do the first one to see how it looks and then go the DIY route...

If you're not in a mad rush for them, try Bravissimo online. They do all sorts of tops/dresses/jackets etc for the larger boobed of us out there. The shirts and blouses are a bit pricey but they fit perfectly and I've never had any problems with them. I buy all my bras with them and have bought a few summery strappy tops too. Definitely worth a nose.
I feel your pain on the clothes problem. Am a size 12 and a size 18 is still too tight on the boobs in shirts and blouses...
