    Any frequent illegal downloaders here?
    Why do you do it?
How often do you do it?
    How did you begin?

Does anybody upload media such as recording TV or ripping DVD's and CD's?

Yep downloading torrents as we speak. Get mp3 singles and stuff of a certain well known website and haven't bought a music cd since about 5 years ago. Only pirate music though

I like to 'download' jokes and opinions from boards.ie discussions, and then at social events I pass them off as my own without the consent of the copyright owner.

Why is there a malformed picture of Eamon Dunphy in the OP? It's making me feel quite uneasy

Yes. Even the normal Eamon face makes people feel uneasy.

I buy all the good stuff, and download all the crap stuff that I wouldn't buy anyway.

I tend to download games as well if there is no demo available. If I like it enough, I then buy the full version.

I've no problem paying to support good films and games as it encourages more to be made.

How about you OP? You're probably torrenting the entire UK top 40 as we speak.

My friend always does it! I tell her not to but does she listen......??

    NO!! :D

What I love is the fact that apparently people who pirate on average buy more cd's n stuff than does who dont.

But yeah if any seriouse laws n such and if eircom or anyplace went too over board they'd loose a huge amount of customers and there'd be a **** load of pissed people who a huge drop in web use lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,456 ✭✭✭Jev/N

I would say close to all my friends, acquaintances, etc. download or stream illegally, be it music, film, tv, live sport, books, games, software, porn or whatever...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 558 ✭✭✭Mick Daly

The live sport is a big one alright.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,295 ✭✭✭✭Duggy747

I watch streaming UK TV (Saves me dosh on the ol' TV license and NTL bill ;) )

I download some movies, ones I really wanna see I go to the cinema.

Download TV shows that aren't on anymore or are kept to obscure channels (Breaking Bad being the main one.............King Of The Hill being the other :pac: )

Don't really download any games as I don't have the time for them anymore, maybe the odd one every couple of months. Left 4 Dead keeps me busy most nights.

I don't upload any stuff as I've never seen the point of going through all that trouble of uploading big files like movies or games. It's an infamy or moral thing for these SCENE groups out there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,941 ✭✭✭krustydoyle

I watch a lot of sports online and have used frostwire and limewire.. but the new gizmo with me is the youtube converter.. i'll say no more... ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 558 ✭✭✭Mick Daly

When you think about it YOUTUBE is as much a provider as anything.

They provide music and it doesn't take a genius to get it of it as an mp3.
