Apart from Aer Lingus or Ryanair, which airlines from Ireland do you prefer/prefer not to fly with and why?

Yep that's what I meant. There must be 30 or so airlines operating from Ireland but you only ever hear about the big 2. I flew recently with Aer Arann and I thought they were great. Nice aircraft and nice crew. Of course they are now branding with Aer Lingus colours. Swiss fly to Zurich and they are just outstanding, as are Lufthansa. I go to London now and again and I much prefer BMI.

You bet, I always find them friendly and easy to deal with. Also a great service out of Waterford to the UK, saves the drive to Dublin or Cork. Long may they last.:)

Through work I fly with City Jet several times a year. I like the service a lot. I've had very few it any problems with them.

The biggest plus for me is the trip from London City Airport into London City where our office is. So much better than the commute from Heathrow, Gatwick, Stanstead.

BMI- flew with them often to LHR before they changed their times, now EI suit better, Dublin based crew were always very friendly. Usually in-time arrival.

Continental- unfriendly crew, uncomfortable 757 for Atlantic crossing

Delta- very friendly, helpful when transferring in the U.S.

Flyglobespan- they were very good for the price paid !

Monarch- they were " grand" and nothing else.

    MyTravel- average.

    .

agree with you about the BMI times, new schedule makes it a bit awkward but i prefer their service overall. Try to fly with them when i can, but of late its been back to EI

not sure if SAS still use 'skyways' to do the stockholm route the odd time, was in one about 7 years ago, class little Embraer jet used. Super food, so comfortable. One of the best flights i was ever on!

It's their own aircraft now. They use a similar CRJ900 sometimes on Copenhagen though which is a real smart aircraft to fly on.

Do they fly a scheduled service? not that it matters to original question but if its a charter flight you don't really have a choice.

I flew with Flybe recently. It was the first time (that I can remember) flying in a turbo-prop so I can't compare it to anything but I found the noise inside the cabin to be quite loud. However, the overall service was excellent and a very welcome break from Ryanair. I've never felt such power on the runway as when the crew applied full power; being forced back into my seat so forcefully put a huge smile on my face. Flying at just 25,000ft was also quite nice as you get a closer look at the ground.

I also flew with Ryanair recently (as I have many times) and I have to say, I got really irritated with all the invasive announcements over the PA system. It just seemed to be non-stop and quite loud too. Then, after arriving 15mins late, they had the nerve to play their little "on-time trumpets" announcement, claiming how punctual they are. I was royally p'ed off.

As for AerLingus, I do prefer flying with them when the price is right but they still strike me as being an old, dreary airline. There's nothing fun or exciting about flying with them. Their uniforms are dull and the livery is dull too BUT, their service is excellent (imo anyway) and that's what counts here.

If you want your flying to be exciting, join the Air Corps, Aer Lingus and the rest are just a flying bus service, the very last thing you want is for their flights to be is "fun" or "exciting". A dull flight is a safe flight!:D

Heh, as an aspiring pilot, you don't need to tell me about that! :)

I agree but in the world of the consumer, image is everything and sells seats.

I've flown several times with FlyBe into Southampton and i've found them great. Sure the Bombardier is a bit noisy but I find it very comfortable.

Their new Embraer 195 is lovely all round though:cool:
