Its has to be "Heroes"... Bonchan & Daigo on the same team is tasty as well! I look forward to this, hopefully there's a stream for this.

    Team Heros ftw.

Yeah, Heroes looks pretty dominant to me. Daigo/Bonchan/TKD is a cool team as well

    What its regular SFIV? Why?

    **penny drops**

Oohhhh right yeah... japanese tournies are on arcades. Ah well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,239 ✭✭✭UberPrinny_Baal

Hahaha, didn't know a top-rank SF player used the handle Bonchan

    DSC01684b.jpg

You have to be pretty manly to make that work.

Is it the rules of team tourneys in general, or just this one that no two players pick the same char?

Are SSFIV team battles like that? Never tried one.

It'll be out on arcade in Japan by then, but it wasn't out in time for the SBO prelims.

edit: Uberprinny, yeah generally in team tourneys you can't have multiples of a character on the same team. No idea about on the SSF4 online thing or whatever, talking about real tournaments.

So EG won the US rep for the 3v3 tourney

Team EG (Justin Wong, Ricky Ortiz, Marn Phan) - Rufus, Chun Li, Viper

I wonder if they'll make it past the first round this year lolz.

Inoue Japan [Kuroda, MOV and Nitto](same name and team as last year bar Ino is absent and being replaced by Nitto, a Yun player), to win 3s.

Red star mirror [RX, Rohihikari and Koushun] is who I will be rooting for though, same team as last year but Koushun taking over the spot of Sugiyama

Overall teams are pretty much same as last year, Rikimaru still has same team (with Momochi and Boss)

Also Tokido is on team with K.O (using Yang) and Ochibi (Yun), so that should be cool

A lot to look forward to

I wouldn't say so. It's part run by Arcadia magazine who last year sold the tournament matches on a DVDs with their magazine.

There's always been a stream for SBO every year (I dunno what year it started). It's crap though, well it was the years I watched. They mute the audio in places, and cut to black for minutes at a time. It's to force people to buy it which is fair. The stream is usually ****e

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,237 ✭✭✭Owwmykneecap

I don't think there was a stream last year.

Year before there was but it was rubbish. the arena is awesome sauce though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 551 ✭✭✭Monkeyto

    Holy Necropost Batman!

The complete qualifiers have been posted up on SRK.

    FULL LIST HERE

They'll have SSFIV Arcade on show at it too.

There's gnna be a stream as well but a) it can stream every match (naturally) and b) You'll have to pay to watch it on Nico Nico Douga (like a Japanese youtube site)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,985 ✭✭✭animaX

    Some nasty teams in there!!
    C-1 Block - Nemo (Chun-Li) / Mago (Sagat) / Tokido (Akuma)
C-2 Block - Kindevu (Rufus) / Momochi (Akuma) / RF (Sagat)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 800 ✭✭✭The Hound

It should be interesting to see how the 3 americans do. Man I hope some amgical stream appears for this

LOL the 3s stats just proved my point, exactly the overpowered characters i mentioned in other 3s online thread.

so did the sf4 stats, oh chunli so awesome yet only 5%

I'll be rooting for Kuroda/MOV/Nitto too, that team is so frightening. RX/Roshi deserve to go far again though, its amazing they made it to the semis a few years back (Team '404 Error' I think?). Shame Sugi's not there, but Koshun is always fun to watch.

Also keeping my eye on this underdog wildcard: Great Demon Flurry ~ Vanao (RY) / Yakkun (YU) / Uraken (GO)

Hoping the French do well too: Team Nadirovic ~ Marko (CH) / Billy Kane (YU) / Nikola (DU)
I take it theres gonna be a stream for this?.. Well hopefully
There will be a stream appearing on NicoNico, but it's pay-per-view and possibly Japanese IP addresses only. Not sure if they're streaming the entire tournament for each game, they may just do semis and finals so as not to dent the later DVD sales too much.

    Because Sagat is more awesome.

You were the one defending chunli in sf4.

Sagat is a different beast in SF4 to SSf4 kiddies, as you well know.

I don't think anyone will look at vanilla Sagat and go "yeah, he's perfect, no changes needed here".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,816 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

BBCS teams are ridiculous -- 24% Litchi, 24% Bang, 14% Arakune.

    Yup, nothing unbalanced here!

Most of the other games seem quite even for at least 8 characters, even ST.

Compared to the stats, shes not as good as you were defending her out to be.
Which is why i mentioned any of this in the first place !?

Farz that's vanilla sf4, we were defending the all powerful super chun.

Vanilla chun's still pretty damn good though as shown by those stats.

To be honest, KO seems so unlucky... it would be a shame if he missed out on victory AGAIN after coming so close for so many years.

KO's playing Yang this year, right?

I dont disagree that she powerful in ssf4, she damn is.

I never said Vanilla Chun was the best character in the game, I said she was good. I said SSF4 Chun was possibly #1

    Street Fighter 3 Third Strike — 3 vs 3, 16 teams

    1. MOV (Chun-Li), Kuroda (Ken), Nitto (Yun)
    2. Kokujin (Dudley), Haitani (Makoto), Nuki (Chun-Li)
    3. Raou (Chun-Li), Mesuta (Yun), Higa (Ibuki)
    3. K.O. (Yang), Ochibi (Yun), Tokido (Chun-Li)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,816 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

    4 Chuns, 3 Yuns, but only 1 Ken/Dudley/Makoto/Yang.

    Also:
Team K.O. Family Result Team Inoue Japan
Tokido (Chun-Li) loses to Kuroda (Ken)
Ochibi (Yun) loses to Kuroda (Ken)
K.O. (Yang) loses to Kuroda (Ken)

    BUT THEN

Team Giants Result Team Inoue Japan
    Nuki (Chun-Li) beats Kuroda (Ken)

Trying to tell us something about chun that we didn't already know?!

Also, where were u on GGPO last night?! Got it working but most connections weren't great

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,816 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

    Another thing to note.

The following games didn't have ANY character represented more than once in final Top 4 team standings:
    Melty Blood Actress Again 2v2
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown 3v3

Thus proving my theorem that they are the most balanced fighters out there. (Tekken 6 Bloodline Rebellion came close, 2 Marduks).

Terry can I play you sometime?
Don't think I've had the pleasure of your Hugo yet.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13 circle masher

The 3S grand final was pretty tense, would love to see the other fights.

And yeah, 3S is definitely not balanced and you get loads of Chuns, Yuns, etc, but I don't see that as a worthwhile reason to rebalance (I presume that was the inference). Part of what makes 3S so fun is trying to overcoming the odds thrown at you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,816 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

    True.

    That's why I play Q.

    Best character.
    Best music.

Anyway, predictable results but tbh we all seen it coming with 3s xD INO Japan ironically with a distinct lack of INO (being replaced with none other than Nitto Yun) ripped it up. Kuroda is too sick. K.O family looked very strong to me but tbh K.O just can't shake the KO CURSE!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

OK lets take that pattern into consideration.
Sagat being used the most, obviously overpowered and therefore nerfed in the next release.

Which is why SF3 online should be rebalanced, nerfing characters like chunli. I know at this stage you have change your mind on re balancing the game some what but initially you were against the idea, anyway i was just highlighting my old point, not sure why you're highlighting yours.
