Im just wondering what the opinions of the boardies here are in regards to how far is acceptable to expect people to travel from thechurch to the reception.

what is considered reasonable in terms of driving from one venue to the other ?

    Thanks

Half an hour is a usual rule of thumb I think. Personally I would try to avoid having people double back on themselves, I hate when I'm going to a wedding and pass the hotel to get to the mass, then have to go back, but I am a grumpy f**k so don't mind me :)

When we were looking for venues we started off looking for places within 45 mins of a drive. Didnt really want to be travelling any further. Went to a wedding last year and there was an 1 1/2+ between church and reception. Was an awful lot of driving!!

Good question, I just checked our distance there and its working out at a 50 minute drive. But the average is probably around 30 minutes for recent weddings.

    I'd say 20-30 minutes . . . but that's just me.

I have been at one where the distance was 60miles. Was very enjoable. Road trip was good fun, in convoy...

Anything over an hour can be a bit of an ask for guests. I've done everything from a 10 minute walk to a 2 hour drive to a hotel after church. It's what you're most comfortable with yourself but people will take a while to get to the hotel if it's a long journey as they may stop for lunch. If the hotel is near I tend to head straight there and eat there instead, love food me.

If they do stop for lunch though, it can work out perfectly with you getting your photos taken.
