I was looking up lots of great Goldust promos yesterday on youtube and had a great laugh. It got me thinking why don't WWE put him in more backstage promos like the ones he had with Booker T, The Rock and Stone Cold. Anyone else feel the same?.

i guess cos they are PG and the whole Goldust persona originally was supposed to be risque and offend somes senses and although it has been watered down a lot he isnt neccesarily more usable now as he is perhaps less tempting to book as apposed to alternative options and I guess they are happy just using him sparadically in 'comedic' skits. I do wonder why he isnt used as much though especially when i watch old footage and see him vs Vader on ppv etc

I personally think that he is in need of a gimmick change. "Goldust" is only associated with "comedy" these days. He undoubtedly has enough talent to get over in his own right and he has a ready made angle to move into with his brother.

that annoyed me, they teased that at the rumble a while back! could have been an explosive angle...i suppose the still could but i doubt it, the E can be very useless at times!

I'd imagine he's well down the list of priorities to feature due to his age. Understandable but a real shame since the guy deserves something more for the top drawer work he put in at the end of ECW.

True, he's on his 4th run with them now and in his two previous stints as goldust he got over, albeit in very different ways. Aside from the non-PG persona, His age is a big issue - once you pass 40, you pretty much want to already be a top guy, because no major push will be forthcoming. If he stays in shape (he's got the fat gene from his father - he was even pudgy around the 1991 Royal Rumble, and at times has resembled Missy Elliot) he's got a good few years ahead of him in the Matt Hardy/Christian build-guys-up-while-looking competitive mould. Sheamus, for one, owes him more than a pint.

No he's not. He's far more talented than his brother and probably half the roster with that.

No way, he has a 'unique' style in the ring but it's far from awful.
Way better then some others who are further up the ladder then him.

God I disagree 100%, I think hes a fantastic worker. The way he guided Seamus through his first few matches in WWE was seriously impressive.

Hes not a super worker a la Benoit or Danielson, but he's a really solid veteran hand that knows the WWE style inside out at this stage and is a perfect guy you'd want on ay roster to help get younger stars over and show them the ropes so to speak.

I think if they are going to push Cody that Goldust gives them a perfect storyline to do so like Goldust getting slagged off or something and Cody turns up and helps him then they become a tag for a couple months, Goldust doing what he does best gives funny promos backstage which would give them popularity(like when he teamed with Booker) and Cody being the main wrestler in the team, they go on win the belts, Cody gets stick off the other wrestlers because he's teaming with the bizarre one, it leads to cracks in their relationship, they lose the belts and after the match Cody hits him and becomes an instant heel, they feud for a few matches which Cody wins. Then Cody get an intercontinental title shot and builds his 'Legacy' from there

Is it worth mentioning that Goldust was introduced when the WWF was PG in 1995/1996?

PG's a different beast today to back then, always looking for new things to sanitize was rougher round the edges for instance 'scary' sherri martel would probs be deemed 15's in todays PG climate, u can't freak the kids out no more. WWE's now as clean-cut as it can possibly be they don't want any bizarre transexual innuendo from Goldust no more :pac:

lol the lucky charms :pac: WWE is still now clean cut as it can get. or at least appear.. i dunno what goes on behind the shark fins n waxed chests but the intimidating hairy older men have almost been replaced by lubed up young bucks full circle

the focus is more on wrestling now but i miss the old sideshow. scary got replaced with sexy ask any gay wrestling fan they'll confirm it - kids used to get so upset they'd bawl their eyes out, was a feature they'd even focus on em for kicks its just not allowed now :(

I was taking the piss. It does appear to be a kids show but plenty of, off the collar material.

I wish they would focus more on wrestling. I hardly know any wrestling fans any more never mind gay ones. How many hairy wrestlers were there in the boom years?

I am not being serious here bud :)

well if it weren't on their chest or back, it were on their head i miss the intensity of proper legends roided up mofo's like the ultimate warrior and randy savage tearing about and the crazy promo's, even an Austin the only intensity HHH brings is in his frown lines n he's supposedly the last of a dying breed we need bushwhackers n George 'the animal' steeles proper barmy c*nts that made it fascinating, the freak show element that made wrestling i'm serious kane don't cut it i miss jake's python gnawing on savage's gushing bicep and kids freaking out, that sort of thing. WWF is thriving financially more than ever yet its a dead duck
