No need to have a powerful or sporty car to go to this people, a dyno check can show you how healthy your engine is, its a good chance to meet with some fellow boards members for a bit of car banter and a day out.

    How good is this thing?
    Is it very accurate?
Do we know what system is it?

If good, I'd like to join to get some figures.

    Its a dyno dynamics,

Accurate for what? No dyno is going to be 100% accurate, its just a gauge thats all.

    Cool ok
Yeah I know, but some dyno are way off.
Being a dynamics, it should be close enough.

Mine is an automatic, so, it is gonna be even more off anyway, especially for the torque...

    Put me down please

Not interested in going as I had the car dyno'd last weekend.

Just wondering how many runs do you get on the dyno?

I've got my car done twice, in AI Autosport they gave me 2 runs and that was it. In Urban Mick ran mine about 7 times to make sure the engine was well warmed up and was the correct reading.

Normally 2 runs when its just a dyno day, more if your there getting something done to the car.

    hhhhmmmm,

Could we get a list of people who want to stick a 4wd on the dyno if there is enough interest I'll pm Eireal to see if he can rearrange it?

I hope I get it off and can make it though..I'll put my name down provisionally to get dyno'd though

I'm afraid my car is just gonna come up with only about 160 though seeing as this thing is meant to be a ball buster :o

yeah i used to get it for €80 and that was on my owm, without a group discount.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,391 ✭✭✭5500

That's the price's I got via email yesterday from them for 10 car's, with it being just over a week away I think we should stick with it in Urban seen as it's already booked and go with a 4wd/2wd session at a later date (and hopefully better price).

For 2wd Dyno runs, isnt Couture Auto about EUR60 for anyone anytime, no bulk discount? They did 3 too.

I dunno who is more accurate or anything, but the pricing is good.

They use the Dyno dynamics as well or at least they used to, which is known for giving low readings.

I'd be interested in a 4wd run but did someone say €100 quids? A lilttle high?

In the mail's they sent Westward were €60 for 2wd and €100 for 4wd, CDA were €50 for 2wd €80 for 4wd on the basis of 10 car's.

Urban is €45 if under 10 and €40 if over 10 & also uses the same roller's as CDA ie DynoDynamics.

Just remove the haldex fuse and it'll stop the rear from driving.

Seen a few haldex cars done like this (S3s & Bora) and they gave accurate enough readings!

ive heard about this been done before but i just dont know whether to do it or not?

any idea if its a big job or easy 2 min fix?

    It's a 30second job!

The fuse is in the fuse panel at the side of the dash. The manual will tell you which one it is exactly.

Worked fine for the handful of cars i've seen do it. Bring it for a quick spin beforehand to make sure it's the right fuse you took out... the only time you'll see a bit of wheelspin in the S3!

    Is yours a 210 or 225bhp?

I've removed the Haldex fuse in my car loads of times for dyno's no hassles ever.

After the dyno when you put it back in you will get an ABS warning light, this will be gone after 2 mins of driving.

Its the only accurate way to get a reading from a 4motion car as even 4wd dynos can't figure out 4motion and you will get crazy readings.
