    Hi,
Recently (~2 months ago) I was assaulted outside a pub in Galway and resulted in me needing stitches in my face.
Went to Gardai after hospital and next day and gave formal statement.
This is my first time having to deal with something of this nature so I'm not really sure of the process.
From my most recent update with the Gard dealing with the case, the "suspect" made a statement and the Gard was still waiting on my medical report.
As from another previous update, the guard had collected CCTV evidence from the scene.
My questions are: At what stage do I take a civil case? Should I wait 'til the criminal case is done and dusted?
How do I go about choosing a solicitor(criteria...?)? Can I just ring them or will they have me arrange a meeting? Would this cost/how much approx?

    Thanks.

Best to choose a a local firm with a decent reputation in dealing with personal injuries. The time for Personal Injuries is tight - The solicitor will advise on the rest.

Initial consultation should not be expensive.
