I must say I am feeling strangely confident of winning this one. We have a nice habit of winning replays with the Kingdom down the Páirc and I see this one running though to form. Cork by 4-6 points. Interesting that it has been changed to 2pm and will be on RTE1, while the Meath V Laois will be streamed live on RTE.ie.
The attendance will suffer as a result as Kerry folk don't travel well unless it's September! With it being on TV I would expect the Cork crowd to be in the majority even more than they were last week. Corcaigh Abú !!

Yeah we'll win this handy enough, considering we dominated Kerry in our backyard while not actually playing well. Colm O'Neill will probably come in, not sure who for - Donnacha imo, but possibly not.

Remember, Cork/Offaly hurlers playing beforehand! ;)

Kerry for me,I think Cork missed their chance on Sunday.

Cork for me by a few.

If Kerry are getting old as they say, a second game in 7 days at that intensity is going to tell on the legs. Conor will have learned a thing or two in the meantime.

There'll be a great atmosphere around the city and the weather is going to be good by all accounts. Just right for plenty of pre-match banter. :D

I was in Killarney but can't go sunday tho :(

    Enjoy to those going!

Rumours going around that Maher will start midfield and that Anthony Lynch has retired from inter-county football.

Any rumour as to the reason? Is it over his injury?

Would be a surprise if Lynchy packed it in, just when Cork are in the Ascendency -footballing wise. I did think Cork would freshen up the forward line a little, staying with the same 15 was a bit of a surprise. I hear Kerry are going to wait until sunday to name their 15 - I would expect Galvin to start though - thus ensuring O'leary having a stormer!!

Kerry will win this game handy enough imo

Would be surprised if Kerry didn't win this - pretty much none of the Kerry players bar Marc O Se (and Galvin when he came on) had good games.

I would be surprised if this was the case again the next day.

Tom O'Sullivan, the entire full-back line was generally alright. Sheehan was excellent. Plus Galvin. Thats about as many good players as Cork had, and Kerry were at home.

Aaahhh, isn't it great the championship is up and running again, after watching that tripe called the world cup last night it's refreshing to know the blood and thunder of a Cork and Kerry replay is 24 hours away. Are we in for a familiar story this year? Cork to win the replay and Kerry to win in Croke Park? Strangely enough I'm confident we'll win both this year. we had our chances to win last week but with 3 or 4 making debuts it was no surprise to see us miss a few. Really like the look of us this year. Strong all over the pitch and a formidable bench. Only gripe is that O 'Neill should be on from the start, he should play at centre forward and can be the link that we're missing to go all the way this year. Up the Rebels!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kerry will win this by a point or two, think they've enough of losing in P ui C.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,971 ✭✭✭teednab-el

Cork will win this today, by 3-4 points I reckon. Cork are hard to beat in their own backyard.

Very strange Kerry selection if what I'm hearing is correct.

Maher to partner Scanlon in midfield (he must have been a lot better than I thought he was when he came on last week), and David Moran in for Darren O'Sullivan at half-forward.

No Galvin again, and he's not injured, he's just not being picked.

Has this been confirmed anywhere else?

Jesus Cork are fired up but Galvin has made a huge difference.

Savage 35 minutes of hard hitting, passionate football. Loved it. better than anything the World Cup has produced so far.

    Referee is having a shocker.

Galvin is a thug- should have been red but the ref missed it

Yea, I really didn't see the need for that whole eye pinching thing.
Even if he is a fantastic player, he really needs to control the temper on the pitch at times.

Great point by Marc O Sé. Extra time now. Some game.

Glavin sticking his finger into another players mouth.

Absolutely disgusting and disgraceful behaviour and I hope the GAA dont bottle it. This guy doesnt deserve to be a role model for kids and appearing on our tv's.

Exactly... i don't think there's a bigger ****er in GAA.

And it's not like a sour grapes thing because he scored the winning point against your county or the likes, it's just cause he's a dirty so and so. He's really love to see someone KO him in a match, he's had it coming for years.

What kind of person hooks someone inside the mouth?... that to me is someone with a lot of experience in that sort of thing, wouldn't even cross the mind of a normal player.

That is the most retarded rule i have ever seen in any sport. Only GAA could have anything so ridiculous

Obviously fair weather supporters, Extra Time is seen as a new game and always has been, hence you start with 15 players and can make 5 substitutions again. The only thing that carries are yellow cards. If you put a bet on Cork to win and they win in extra time you do not win your bet.

What? I think you having been watching too much of the world cup.

The standard has been awful. Says a lot for the state of GAA when these two teams are regarded as the best in the country.

As regards Galvin, (he is a great player) and is an impact sub.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 24,028 Mod ✭✭✭✭Clareman

Personally I like the fact that it's a new game, but you use a sub don't forget so there isn't really an advantage, both teams can use 5 subs in extra time so the same for fresh players

Why make an assumption that people are 'fair weather supporters'?

I asked how it is fair? You get a player sent off but are then allowed a fresh, fit player? Not exactly fair IMO.

Because only fair weather suporters think its a stupid rule? LOL.

After benefiting from the most retarded rule in sports history I now really hope Kerry beat those Cork cnuts.

Both teams are allowed bring in fresh, fit players, you have a full compliment of subs to bring on, there is no advantage besides getting back to 15 players. If you knew that the game was going to extra time with a minute to go in regular time and hadn't used a sub, you could use all 5, then use 5 again to start extra time, replacing 2 thirds of your team

The reason I make the assumption is that extra time happens every couple of weeks and that rule has always been there, so if you follow GAA you would know that.

Where did that comment come out of? Its not as if Kerry have had no success in football.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,648 ✭✭✭gooch2k9

I'm in huge favour of being allowed extra subs in extra time. Players at this stage of fatigue are more susceptible to injury, so its only right you should be allowed interchange.

However, being allowed return to 15 men after having a man sent off...?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,718 ✭✭✭✭JonathanAnon

This game highlights the need for a buzzer in GAA matches.. Too easy for the ref to blow up when the teams get level and orchestrate draws. I think the commentary team are making too much of the "importance" of this game. Post game, both teams will still be in the champsionship, so in the grand scheme of things this match is irrelevant.

On another note, I didnt think it was possible for Joe Brolly to get any more annoying, but I was wrong

Again, I didn't ask 'where did that rule come from?', I asked 'how is it fair'?

Error in communication my good man.
