yeah fairly big crash it seemed, red flag out.

I was over at this last year and I've got to admit that it was the best motorsport weekend I've ever had. Unbelievible atmosphere over at it

Loving Eurosports coverage of it as always.

Some LMP2 cars seem to be heading into slower LMP1 territory!

I hope the gap between Peugeot and Audi gets much smaller.

Hasn't it been the way that the Pugs are quicker over the short runs but Audi should be sound over 24 hours?

I'll be tuning in over the weekend. It's one event I really want to do a proper roadtrip to.

The Peugeots are just faster in general now. THey won last year by utterly outclassing Audi and added reliability and decent strategy to their pace. From when they came to Le Mans with the 908 they have been faster than Audi(four poles in a row) but couldnt match the Germans for reliability and teamwork but all the kinks are worked out from the car now whereas Audi are clearly struggling with the R15 Plus and cant match the pace of the Pugs. If/when it rains the Audi's might have half a chance but they are clearly lacking in outright pace. Its quite the turn up for the books, after last year everyone expected Audi to come back and really fight for the win but the team that dominated this race for the last decade are clearly not able to match Peugeot right now

The Audi is brand new this year, cant see them beating the pug with it.

went to this a few years ago, unreal. Atmosphere, weather, noise, smells, car parks..

Glad im not there this year, think the weather would ruin it.

It's not a whole new car for this year, the R15 came out last year but has seen a raft of aero updates for this years race. It isnt as fast as the Peugeot and in all liklihood with the Pug having four years of running the Audi wont be as reliable either

I'll be getting up early (it starts at 6am on US west coast) to see the start.

I want to see the nigel mansell family ginetta. that has to be a first for le mans?

Track looks a bit greasy to me, what's the forecast like?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭Grim.

Nice, usually make some effort to follow this race but would know **** all, can't imagine driving in the rain at night is much fun in those cars.

Fairly exciting first lap so far. :pac: McNish certainly looks to have a fair amount of pace, probably back off a little to mind his tyres now I'd have thought.

boo mansell in the barrier safety car out

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,316 ✭✭✭✭amacachi

Again I'm not clued in particularly, but do they usually send out all the equipment for no reason? Bit worrying to see all the services arriving.

    Tyre failure perhaps?

Would they not release the cars behind the second safety car to catch up the rest of the field by the restart? Seems a very silly rule.

Who's the commentator on Eurosport, Johnny Mowlem? Thought he was racing this weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭Grim.

    aye its pretty dumb alright

spyker driver to peugeot next year :p

Yeah its fairly crap, last year the then number 3 Pug lost the race because he got caught behind the wrong safety car. Its ridiculous that whatever slim chances Audi had of making a race of it are finished already beacuse of this

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,316 ✭✭✭✭amacachi

    Green simultaneous? Silliness.

yup only thing that can stop the pugs now is themselves or if the same thing happens to them later in the race

Unless they fall behind somehow they can't really end up behind a Safety Car behind the Audis, so it'll take a fair **** up.

The all woman team didn't last too long, after that fire. I'm getting very odd looks from her indoors for slagging them off.

Definitly heading back next year, I was very tempted to head to Silverstone for the 1000km LMS race and this is making it even more appealing!

Was looking at the Silverstone race but it looks to be on around some exams for me. :( Fair chance it'll be after but I can't get a timetable yet and by the time I do the travel will probably be too damn dear.

There's usually loads of tickets available right up til the race so dont right the trip off!
