I am going ordering my first PA. It is for a 2-piece acoustic set. I have decided on the yamaha emx312sc power mixer but have a slight problem with choosing suitable speakers.
I have chosen to get the peavey messenger pro 12 mkii speakers but I have no idea whether I need them with 4 ohms or 8 ohms.

Would really appreciate any advice you have on this as need to order the equipment as soon as possible.

    Thanks redface.gif

I've no experience with the gear you're looking at, but the spec says that desk pushes out 180w per channel @ 8ohms, or 300w per channel @ 4ohms.

The Peavey's in their 4ohm version are rated @ 250W, which seems like a match for the Yamaha's output @ 4ohm.

That's the numbers game anyway, how it'll sound is another thing but for acoustic/2pc stuff it's prolly fine.

I would never reccomend getting 4 ohm spekers when it is the lowest load of the power amp I would go for 8 ohms giving you the option of adding bins or more speakers in time but using 4 ohm speakers you do not have that option
