    Is this your first?
If it is you'll probably be so shocked by the exhaustion you wont give a hoot about your size 10's for at least the first 6 weeks.
Do you plan on breastfeeding? That is a great calorie burner.
I think the trap most women fall in to is that your are so knackered you get by on quick energy fixes -whether biscuits, cakes as snacks or takeaways instead of proper dinners.
If you can get some healthy nutritious meals in the freezer. Stock up on frozen veg so it's always on hand.
There a great dvd called "getting back" - it's on amazon that can be used from early on.
Keep away from strenuous exercise for the first 6 weeks as your muscles need to heal.
Get out for walks every day with baby in buggy - this is great for your mental health too.

All the best for a smooth delivery, enjoy your baby :)

My wife had her first baby 10 weeks ago, breast feeding makes a huge difference in reducing the size of the belly.
But you will be so tired in the first few weeks that it would be very difficult to start any kind of exercise regime.
The celebrity mums have full time nannys to look after their kids so a full nights sleep is easy. I'd say 6 to 8 weeks after he/she is born you could start some light training.

(I'm no expert, just from experience)

Money worked best for celebrities. They paid people to devise a fitness plan for them and walk them through it, look after their child, clean their house, cook the meals, and of course surgery - many just go ahead and get liposuction immediately following the birth.

That's not what you want to hear, but it's the truth. Ignore anything they say in the magazines - celebrity mothers threw money at the problem and came out looking good on the other side.

What the above poster says is about the best advice. Breastfeeding burns something like 500kcal per day (about a pound per week), but doesn't suit everyone. Just watch your diet and do some light cardio which fits into your schedule - walking, etc. My two sisters in law were at or close to their pre-baby weight after 12 weeks, having done very little extra beyond the amount of activity that looking after a new baby requires.

    Yes,
I heard breast feeding can help but personally this is not something I want to do . I know of some DVD'S but really how reliable are they?

Give yourself some space, the first few weeks at home with a baby are utterly exhausting. Dont add the pressure of a flat tummy into the mix. :)

I think if you are in good shape anyway, and its your first, then your body should return to its normal figure without too much trouble. But as has been said, I found it wasnt the pregnancy that put on weight, it was the rushed eating/comfort eating/eating baby's leftover pudding that did it. :)

Celebs cheat, dont base your own ambitions for a 'supermummy' figure on anything they do. Just eat a clean diet, and start with gentle exercise, see how you feel. Listen to your body and dont exercise through fatigue.

Big +1 on this. Those celebrities may manage it but as Seamus said they have professional help looking after baby and their bodies.

Congrats btw. :) Hope the birth goes well for you.

9 months to put on weight so allow yourself that sort of time frame to get it off again

Its summer so out pushing the buggy is a good way to start in to it easily and then listen to your body

As baby grows its basically progressive weight lifting as you lift him or her :)
Squat, deadlift will be done regularly!
