I've finally managed to create a US PSN account. What I want to know is can points cards bought from local game shops here download games from the US PSN store on my US PSN account?

    No.

US PSN cards for US store.
UK PSN cards for UK store.

Once games are downloaded to any store, they are available to play on any account.

No, Irish cards work on the Irish PSN,American work on the US,if you have a credit card you can link it to the account or just buy the US Cards from Ebay or an American site.

So I just have to use my credit card to download the stuff? Seems kind of stupid from Sony. The EU store is appaling. Why make it difficult for the consumer to purchase more and better products?

Supposedly it's licensing issues. However in most cases it's because SCEE are incompetent. Still we have Vagrant Story. Even more annoying for me is that the versions of PS1 games available on the EU PSN are the PAL versions.

Ah crap! I tried to add my credit card to my US PSN account, via my psp, but it asks for the billing address associated with my credit card and does'nt allow me change country from U.S.A. to Ireland. Anyone know how to get around this?

First off, people have problems with associating Mastercard with their US account. I can't help with that, though if someone here can, they will.

    I use Visa.
When you are putting your CC details on your US account, put in the address associated with the CC, until you get to state/province, then put in a US state and postal code.
I use California and for post code, I use 90210.

The country/region is fixed. Mine has US.

I did that. I just get "The cc info is not valid".

When you go to the "Account Information" on XMB and go to the address, is it the same as the information that you are putting into the "Billing Information".

    E.G, Street add 1: 123 Irish Street,
    Street add. 2: Knocklyon,
    Street add. 3: Tallaght
    City: Dublin,
    State Province: Calif.
    Postal Code: 90210
    Country/Region: US < non changeable

I did'nt download XMB to my pc. I don't know what XMB even is. I basically just created a US PSN account over the net(Did'nt try to associate my credit card with the account when I created it.),logged on directly via my PSP and attempted to buy some games through my cc.

Do you not have to associate a PSP with a PS3 account to use downloaded content?
    XMB = cross media bar.

I assumed you were using a PS3, sorry for confusion.

Can't you setup a US account without a CC and use US PSN cards? It's what I do on the PS3.

I'm understandably sceptical about the integrity of some of these websites. The reputable sites seem to want to rip me off.eg charging $60 for a $50 card. Some charge more. Alot of the more resonable ones are out of stock. It's mental that people have to go to these lengths just to buy content from Sony.
