I'm getting an international drivers license and I'm just wondering if it mentions the transmission type on it?

If you have an automatic license does it say it on the IDL and if so is it really noticeable????

An international drivers licence is a translation of your current licence and is of no use by itself.

I've never seen one, but I presume if there is a restriction on your real licence, then the translation will highlight the restriction too.

Like R.O.R. said you need your orignal licence as well as the international license (which is a flimsy looking paper book - always reminded me of a school maths tables with most of the pages removed.) - So it will be at least as obvious as it is on your full license.

It's also worth noting that if you're renting a car - the rental company will fleece you if you have an accident and there is any hint of you misleading them...... (But they'll probably fleece you anyway in the case of an accident!)

If you're renting a car then just rent an automatic!

An International Driving Permit has very little information of any consequence on it, other than your name, photo, country and date of birth. You are required to carry your own licence with it and will be asked for both documents should an incident occur. When renting a car it is possible that only your international permit and passport will be sought (and copied) but they may also seek your full licence.
