Are we going over to weddings or what?

Anyway, about the scrolls. They really would not be difficult to make. You would have to get all your text onto an A4 page, print off onto parchment effect paper (about 100gsm) which you can easily get in a stationery shop or craft shop. Print your information, roll up the page from the bottom and tie a length of ribbon. The ribbon can be glued in one spot to the top back of the page so it doesn't just fall off, and you could decorate the spot with a small flower or similar.

Have you thought this through though. Most people hold a mass booklet in one hand to read it, and use the other hand to lean on the pew in front, hold a handbag, prevent small children from escaping, etc.

To unroll a scroll you need two hands, and you have to keep a firm hold on it so it doesn't spring shut. A lot of elderly or older people rely on holding the pew in front for support or balance, they would find it difficult to manage a scroll.

If you make the scroll longer than A4 the problem gets even more difficult, but getting all the service onto one A4 sheet will also be difficult. Maybe do a trial run with a sheet of paper, and see how you get on.

I have to agree with previous poster - scrolls look beautiful all rolled up, but actually operating them is a nightmare, there's a lot of shuffling/rustling trying to straighten them out, and sometimes I just get so frustrated, I just leave it..... because there's so little information on it, it's hardly worth taking it as a guest to follow the mass

I had a 1 page wedding booklet size A4 printed on both sides and would be more than happy to share the template with you. I did a tri-fold wedding booklet to save on paper/printing and was thrilled. I've shared the template with quite a few and even did my sister's wedding booklets using the same template. She took the booklet and printed them professionally but I spent €15 on paper in Eason's and printed them in black and white myself and I was thrilled with the result. PM me with your email address if you would like the booklet template.

I dont know if i should be bumping this thread, but cant find much information on how to pick the readings for the mass.
Our priest didnt mention anything much about it, so can we pick the readings ourselves? I came across one website that lists readings called together.ie ?
How did anyone else decide upon their readings?
    Thanks.

Did your priest give you a book on weddings? Ours gave us two :D but it's quite useful regarding what readings to pick... yep, you pick your own, one from the old testament and one from the new. You also pick your own gospel. And then you pick your prayers of the faithful if you're having them. Picking the readings was pretty easy for us, just the ones which sounded nicest. But we're really struggling with our order of service at the mo :o and, in particular, the order that everything goes in. A lot of websites seem conflicting and there doesn't seem to be a website above all websites :D

Thanks for that Helen. We didnt get a book from our priest and its not long to our wedding now, so we have to get a move on! I think I'll make a trial booklet and show it to the priest this weekend or something to see what he thinks on the order. I reckon I could copy my cousins order either.

I agree with the previous post that the unraveling of the scroll in the service could be a little noisy..... but I do love the look of them!

I designed a scroll in a bottle for a friends wedding invatation (very elaborate) but lovely. The scroll inside had a cream ribbon with a red wax seal and it had the bride n grooms initials.

I know my friend ordered the stamp and wax online here http://www.waxseals.com/initials.shtml

Getting married in about 6 months - thinking of having booklets for myself, bride and priest, and scrolls for everyone else. Ive looked here http://www.ashmoreproductions.com/wedding-mass-booklet-templates/

But wondering how to print these correctly?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,030 ✭✭✭neemish

Just press print, options, double sided, flip on short edge

    BUT

The booklets are out of date by two years, the Mass responses are wrong
