Low passenger jet over kilkenny last weekend

    It would have been Thursday evening I think (27th May) at around 9.30 pm. I don't expect anyone here actually saw it but maybe some of you spotters could shed some light on why it was so low. We're not on any approaches except waterford and it wasn't headed south to there, it was headed roughly west, slowly. Anyway waterford can't handle 737's as far as I know.

    I have a PPL (so i have a fair idea what i am on about) and am interested in flying and I can safely say that i never saw a plane so low over kilkenny

    It was a twin engined jet...probably pax but possibly cargo something like a 737 or that class of machine. I could see the jet engines and outline of the aircraft clearly with my crap eyesight, which is remarkable. It seemed really low and also quiet.

    Perhaps it was an optical illusion though either?

    How low is low, and how slow is slow? Could be a training excercise from Shannon maybe.

    PS. If your eyesight's so bad then how did you get your PPL??!!

    Um... I wear glasses when I fly?
