Add her to the fact Michael Jai White is in that trailer and it gets me thinking that it is for a film and not a short.

I did take a look at the IMDB but admittedly only at Jeri Ryan's page to see if there was anything listed on that.

the trailer for the second of the 1990's MK films showed the killing of Johnny Cage. So not exactly a new thing.

Appears to be a promo for the next game, and a number of people have half confirmed this to me. With the release/leak being so close to E3 it would seem pretty certain that it's for the upcoming game.

Michael jai White was to play Jacks in Mortal Kombat Anihilation but did Spawn instead and has talked about wanting to play the role in the past. Lateef Crowder looks pretty cool as Baraka and Subzero looks truly amazing.

Hopefully it's going to be a movie, and by the looks of it, it will be.

There's different stories going around about the Mortal Kombat trailer. One is that is a test concept for a possible full length MK movie that is centred around being more present day, but according to Michael Jai White's reps as far as he knew it was a promo for an upcoming game.

Oh and that Tekken trailer looks appalling.

Absolutely brilliant!! Love the whole modern day serial killer angle. I love the 1st MK film but really want a full film to be made out of this. This could actually get non-game playing people to go to the cinema!

Sub Zero just needs some liquid nitrogen canisters spraying out from his arms, to freeze opponents heads (prior to the uppercut)

Cheesy dialogue and premise for Scorpion (Cops are sending him to a fight club to kill everyone) but was an interesting watch. Refreshing to see a different take on the name.

Mortal Kombat is definitely being rebooted, that much is for sure and I think they have no problems with keeping Christopher Lambert as Raiden :pac:

Interesting to see what happens after this.

Well he did "Fame". I can't imagine he'd top that.

The same guy who wrote this is writing the movie according to IMDB, but it's not even certain there's actually going to be another film.

The series, which begins filming February in Vancouver, is written by Rebirth director Kevin Tancharoen, Todd Helbing, and Aaron Helbing. The fighters expected to appear include Shang Tsung, Liu Kang, Durak, Sub Zero, Kabal, Kitana/Mileena, and Scorpion. The plot does delve into the supernatural — Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung are rumored to be gods from an alternate dimension whom the Kombateers must defeat.

This isn't the first time the Mortal Kombat franchise has tried out serialized storytelling. There was the 1998 TNT series Mortal Kombat: Konquest, remember? Of course, the main question on my mind is whether or not this series will get a rip-roaring theme song in the style of Jock Jams.

Done by the same Rebirth director? I'm all ears! Webisodes, though? Well, I'll definitely check it out. I bought Konquest on DVD actually. It sucks lol.
