A trip to hopefully see the Northern Lights?

Hello folks.

Does anyone have any experiences with trips to see the Northern Lights?

With my better half's 21st birthday slowly approaching and getting to see the Northern Lights being something that she has always wanted to do, I figured it would make a nice present to at least try make her dream come true.

Price wise I can afford between 1000-1500 per person. I know that seeing them isn't guaranteed but there's no harm in trying.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially from anyone who has personal experience of such trips.

i have no experience but its something i would love to do

northern norway is supposed to be one of the best places in the world to view them, tromso is a major city in that part of the world with regular cheap enough flights from london, its dark 24hrs a day from late october to mid march in tromso and the best time to view the NL is between 6pm and 12am there, after 10pm being the supposed best time

The main problem with the NL is depending on climate conditions, etc. you may not get to see them. Sometimes, its just weather luck!
Have you thought about Iceland? At least if you don’t get to see the NL, you will have a truly unforgettable holiday.
