Emergency J1 interview Appointments

Ok so I am supposed to be going on a J1 this summer...I have a job set up, flights booked etc. The only problem is I still havnt had an interview with the embassy as there was a long delay with my papers arriving from America and they are only due to arrive this week.

The interview appointment waiting list online said that theres a 7 day waiting list for student and exchange visas but when I rang this morning to book an appointment the earliest date she could give me was the 29th of June. I am supposed to fly out the 22nd and start work on the 23rd:eek:

So I am starting to get really worried now. I sent an e-mail straight away to the embassy in Dublin to request an emergency appointment like it says to do online. However I then recieved and auto-response e-mail saying it could take up to two days to receive a reply...
So now the panic is definitely starting to set in. I'm starting to run out of time.

So just wondering has anbody got any experience of this? How quick were they to reply to your e-mail and it is likely that they will give me an emergency interview at all?
Any help would be much appreciated! :)

Usually the emergency appointments are made if someone cancels or they have an extra opening (usually around 8am or earlier). So maybe call them and let them know you will go at any time. They might email you tomorrow, if not call them or even ask your J-1 provider, they could get you an appointment if you stress how desperate you are and that you will take any appointment!
