I was sick for the Ladies Marathon, and I want to do something to earn my sponsorship money....would anyone be interested in this?

Is this purely a jogging event, yeah? I'm fitter than I was but not sure I'd be able to jog for 5 miles without keeling over.. yet! I'll defo check out the running forum for events later in the year though! :)

There are people who run-walk or just walk them - last year there were quite a few people who took more than 1 hour for the 5 mile distance. I think you should do it :)

If you're working on Couch to 5k, you could try doing it as intervals - run 5 minutes, walk 1 minute, repeat as necessary?

Run-walk is fine as is walking the whole way. Once you start far enough back into the crowd that you don't get lost in the stampede at the start.

The 5 mile route is a nice route, quite hilly so you could always aim to walk the uphills and run the rest and you'll get plenty of resting and recovery time.

Ah crap its hilly? Might just do the Headford 8K (in galway) instead the week before. My work summer bbq is on the day before the 5mile anyway so the galway one might suit better!

I'm doing this too, really looking forward to it. It seems popular, I wonder how many people are signed up for it,anyone know?

You'll have a job finding a route in the Phoenix park that isn't hilly. It's not too bad there's more flat and downhill than there is uphills, plus, what goes up - must come down.

dont worry you wont get in the way of other runners and its the other runners around you that will keep you going till the finish line.i startrd running late january and managed to do the 10km in may, ran most of the way and shocked myself.are you road running or treadmill? cause theres a big difference.
keep at it, youll be dead proud after.
