Between unannounced platform swaps and delays at level crossings last week was a nightmare!

What are the chances that the Longford - Dublin train will run on time and without delays this week?

the bus is probably much more reliable if slower but at least you get to dublin when you expect to be there!

I would'nt say your are the only commuter pissed off with this. Since the introduction of extra service in 09 is extremly rear that ant service makes it end to end on time. Time for some double tracking between Edgeworthtown and Mullingar at least five or six mile so that the Dublin service can continue on its way not having to wait on the Sligo service

yeah its a bit of a joke alright... by rights it should be fully double tracked.. definitely as far as Mullingar for sure

Double track is the answer but I cant ever see that happening unless there was a dramatic rise in the patronage of the Sligo-Dublin line. I say double tracking for Mullingar would require the population rising to 30,000 within a mile radius of the town. Like kilucan if a couple of miles of passing loop was constructured to allow a better flow of the services and resignalling to allow for this added infrastructure. There is a similar problem on the Galway line between Clara and Tullamore.

And the Galway train often waits for 20+ minutes in Clara without an announcement as to why everyone is sitting there. Even them saying "we're waiting for the other train, it'll be 10 minutes". But NOTHING.

That must be head wrecking alright! Would be much better to cancel/bus the late train and leave the rest of the timetable run as is.. I hate the way that a ten minute delay in the morning turns everyones commute home into hell
