Couch surfing in NYC

    Hey I am currently on a j1 in nyc and am still looking for a place. Anyway I signed u for couch surfers a while back but never stayed anywhere through the site and my membership is not verified coz u needed to use a credit card which I did not have. I am just looking for a place to crash for a few nites in Brooklyn this week and have sent a few emails through the site looking to stay with people. I'm not sure though if I need to get verified b4 people will start replying?? Can anybody tell me how exactly couch surfers works?
