    Hi all
I've been trying my best to get as many links back to our myspace page as possible. I've done the facebook, the myspace, the twittering. Any other suggestions?

Those are kind of the best ones to be honest, we've got accounts with whotune and breaking tunes also, but they're really not that great. Boards can be pretty useful sometimes too... :D

linked in and get your personal profile uploaded if you haven done so. you can then go after people and ask them to recommend you etc on linked in.

whatever you are doing make sure your promoting is consistant between all channels - ie if you update one thing on the facebook do it on your twitter etc etc - to save time you can use pingfm which will update all of your social networks - its handy!

Also perhaps consider a blog about what you are doing.. give updated info on gigs etc you have played or are playing etc etc.

I was gonna switch over to a microblogger, but couldn't decide on one... Any recommendations?

    I use blogger - https://www.blogger.com/start

Its cool and easy to use etc and its a google ap so great for search listings and that kinda thing.

I suggest to the person who started this thread.. if you have a website.. seriously start promoting your social networks on your site. Also as a musician you should also consider having a youtube channel.

sorry trying to put everything im thinking down here.. i work in marketing

You Tube only really with clever use of words in your title, as no one knows you so how they gonna find you :)

my space is pants unless used properley ie: dont use friend adders as thats cheating in long run... facebook is great ut only after name is out there :)

focus on you tube 1st I would say from experience :)

You tube is very clever if you have your own website - everybody who knows anything about social networking / business knows that being interactive is the only way to promote yourself.. people want to physically see what they are getting / what you can do etc etc...

Any musician / band etc should have a website with a main viewer box as a video which links to your youtube channel - The main aim of websites these days and especially for musicians is to make them as interactive as possible.. if your a good musician have a snappy video showing this right up on your website homepage to show this - which then links to your youtube channel.

Yes calling them snappy names does matter - ie: If you are a wedding singer in dublin be very keyword specific this is how google picks it up (think about what people would type in to search for you... logically) .. ie name it something like: "wedding singer Dublin slow song sample" etc etc... or if people know you by name ie: Joe dunne then your location and your music type or song ie: "Joe Dunne Dublin living on a prayer" .... or whatever.. The key is to be key word specific in naming your titles and even your social network pages..so people can find you in the search engines... The names may not look cool or whatever.. but at the end of the day your main aim is actually wanting to be found by people and if you just name your video by the name of the random song.. there may be about a million versions of it and the chances of it being found by the right people are slim to none

My space is fine if again promoted on your site with your other social networks... and then all the time in each social network link back and forth between them... if you want people to hear your sound then constantly link them to the youtube channel or the my space where you have the sample of your sound etc... twitter is a good one for this is you build up a good following... you can then entice people to go to your tube link by putting a snappy target line ie: Check out cool sounds here: (link to your youtube channel page) The key is not to give them too much info in the tag line as it will entice them to click and see what you are talking about...

*** Twitter is a fantastic business tool if used properly which is then used to link to other platforms.. ie your website.. your facebook, your blog... your my space etc etc..

another one people are using is flickr and picasa for pictures.. again.. if you have played gigs etc.. people want proof.. want to see what you have done / what you are about!

On the subject of twitter. I've noticed a lot of tweets I get are re-tweets. How does one go about getting your tweets re-tweeted. ( Good grief, talk about re-invention of the English language!)
