Musicians wanted dublin area

    Hello,

I am looking to get a bunch of musicians into the same room with lots of different instruments with the intention of making music that I as a discerning music aficionado would be happy to listen to.

Specifically, I am looking to avoid the traditional band set up i.e. drums, bass, guitars, keys ect. As a 27 year old male, I have been there and done that and whilst it was great fun I have no desire to go down that road again. I am looking to get kernel of maybe three or four people together who have similar tastes to my own who are not afraid to pick up a new instrument regardless of how much they suck at it. Ideally this would start out as a writing/recording project with a view to enlisting the help of other musicians to get it to the stage.

Musically, I listen and enjoy most genres. For musical references I'm thinking along the lines of Dead Can Dance, Depeche mode, Bowie, Eberhard Schoener, Brian Eno, Nine Inch Nails, Kila, Andrew Bird, Animal collective, Bibio, Calexico, The Flaming Lips, Gorillaz, Kraftwerk, The Low Anthem, Mercury Rev, Mike Oldfield, Orbital, Fairport Convention, Phish, Radiohead, Six organs of admittance, Sonic Youth, Squarepusher, Espers.

    Instrumentation: Anything goes!
    Age: 21-50

Any questions, post em below or msg me.

    Thanks,
    Hobknob

I'd be interested. Have you any plan past getting people in a room to jam?
How would you aim to avoid the traditional scenario?

    hi

Raindog, the idea would be to get people into a room i.e. the core element of the project - 3 or 4 people hopefully. Exchange ideas and shape them into a tangible format or arrangement. Then record the ideas or songs using the studio as an instrument and then work towards live arrangements using whatever musicians wish to come on board for the live setting.

    Cheers.

Have you any examples of stuff you've done yourself?

    Nice influences btw.

I do and I don't if you get me..I have been out of action for the past while in terms of home recording. I have some stuff that I have been working on lately but nothing current. A lot of which is influenced by the instrument I have been playing this past year (Hammer Dulcimer), mainly celtic sounding stuff. I will be getting back into home recording over the next couple of months but the idea here really would be a 'blank canvas'.

I'd be interested in trying something out if you are.
Some stuff i've done but haven't updated in a while is in my signature.
I think the myspace website lists my gear and home recording software and all that ****e.

Liking the dulcimer, I've played the synth version a few times and love the sound.

Ye can get me on facebook if ye want a chat:

Yeah. Did anything come of this. I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. I am a keyboard player/producer with a band and wouldn't mind bouncing ideas off.

I had a pm about arranging a jam, then no further. PM'ed to see if anything was still going ahead and no reply.

Seeing as we all replied to the ad then we've similar interests, how about we just arrange a jam ourselves?
