    Hi,

    I am a nineteen year old female, looking for a suitable gym routine. I plan on going 3/4 times a week. I am currently doing aerobics once a week, but I don't have any structure to my plan.

    I am just looking for a simple toning and fitness regime to aid myself in getting fit and dropping a small bit of weight. Can anyone point me in the direction of these ?

    Put together a routine based on deadlifts, bench press, squats, lunges, pull-ups, dips, military press, bentover row, plank, hyper-extension, woodchopper.

    You'll probably have to get a trainer to show you the right way to do some of these, or check out www.exrx.net. You'll also notice that most of them are free weight exercises, often with barbells, so you'll be working in the same area as some of the really big guys. Don't get put off. These exercises are the ones which will really help shape you, and even better, they'll do it quickly.

    If you are pressed for time, three sets each of deadlift, bench press and squat will work your whole body (and you'll feel it) in record time. Don't be afraid to go heavy on the weights. Find the weight where you are struggling to finish eight reps. I promise, you will not turn into the Her-minator, but you will shape up and look toned.

    By the way, I'm a 49 year old woman, and that's pretty much my routine.
