Thinking about opening a hairdressing business in my local town. Are there any legal issues I need to be aware of or can I just open the doors and start cutting hair?

Off the top of my head I can think of issues relating to: Tax, accounting, insurance, employment, incorporation, personal guarantees, trademark, etc.

You really, really need to talk to a solicitor and possibly an accountant too.

There may be planning permission issues. You may need to apply for planning permission for change of use, unless it is already a hairdressers.

Don't take any 'short cuts' ... matters may not be 'cut and dried' ..... seek proper legal professional advice from a solicitor and matters will hopefully mean that you don't have any 'close shaves' with the law and can operate a business which is a 'cut above the rest'.
