Finally got a chance to get out with my new Remington 700 AICS today, weather was cracking with just a small wind blowing where I was shooting.
Set up at 100 meters and used 55gr UMC ammo to get me on paper, 3 shot groups were not great with the UMC ammo but i moved to 55gr V-Max and it was different story altogether with some nice groups that just needed a small bit of tuning to get them were i wanted (see pictures attached), pulled the last shot in the second group a bit, went a little left.

    P.S.
Anyone know where I can get a front scope cover for a night force 12-42-56, can’t seem to find one big enough in the shops I’ve tried or online ????

Nice rifle mate....My 2 cents worth now...It needs a Tactical bolt knob;)
    Just to finish it off..

Have you tried Sean at staklums rod and gun in Thurles for your flip caps?
He usually has a good stock of em

I'd say Deer. I was out driving with the GF and saw loads up there.

They were Very dark in colour in comparison to the deer near me

Ya the fallow can be completly black on the tops of their backs! Wouldn't personally want to be taking very long range shots at deer tho! But I must check out the few places up there I have permission for to find a few more spots!

It was not deer that actually was interesting me.
it was the resemblance to that other thread mentioning a place in the UK where you pay to go shooting.

That mountain to another valley could be a serious distance. A grey crow would be a savage target, and there are lots of foxes in the mountains

I reckon 2000 metre is deffo on the cards for some of the larger calibres, perhaps the 300 WSM or the 30-06 at a guess.
Wind drift and atmospheric pressure would be mad over a range like that so one would need a good spotter or two.

I was thinking of a few lads on here that it would really test there ability and equipment;)

I know of a few places like this. I could not get a better pic without going off road. I had stopped in a gateway to take the pic. but a mile down the road was better but not safe to stop on a corner.

    What you shooting?

And I go nowhere I have no permission. Be it good bad or ugly ;)

You are now operating at the very upper limit of a trained military sniper with a .338LM and a head-load of knowledge, let alone the gear to do it. A Cheytac plus its corresponding computer would be good, too.

I'd like to see the results of shooting a 30-06 at 2000 yards, though.

Go for it, guys, over here we're watching!

Any way back on topic after all the pictures of gay dogging spots in South Tipp which actually happen to be in North Tipp.

Here is testament to Comeragh Shooters prowess with the Remmington, I've pretty much taught him everything he knows and thanks to me he'ld still only be a target shooter.

Heres a fox that CS nailed at about 150m metres down in my neck of the woods. A nice bit of shooting, we tried a known hangout in a bog and lo and behold a set of eyes appeared called for a bit but he wasn't coming in, he had just turned to leave when I called again, he looked over his shoulder and the boy wonder nailed him with the .223

Where I come from GF means girl friend, although.... I have heard of them referred to quare wans, Moths, etc

My girlfriend and I often go for scenic walks in the mountains.

    Back to post.
Did you ever consider a Bell & Carlson stock? I'm tempted for my remmy as a cheap alternative to AICS

I asked you "I thought had you looked at the bell and Carlson stocks as a viable replacement stock in comparison to a AICS".
I meant to say what Remington 700 do you shoot and have you looked into these stocks to date?

Is that on thread enough? It mentions all of the title in it?

Well "the bird" wouldn't be invited on any scenic walks with me unless she proves useful pulling a deer( doubt it!)

Or else I'll convince her to get a .243 and she can follow me hunting all she wants!
