The Start of the Sea Races is finally under way. On Saturday at 5pm the Sea Races started down opposite Jurys Inn at the Docklands. It was a great day plus the Maritime Festival was on.

Water wasn't actually that cold once you made the plunge.Great to see all the usual faces apart from Joe Browne, he could of been their but didn't see him. There was no Pre A or A/B teams, you got your hanidcap and that was that.Congrats to Martin Monks for doing the Handicap this year.

Could of done better I feel, but got a few kicks in the face going around the bouys, nothing to serious but when your goggles go sideways there is nothing you can do but keep going:).

Hightide was at 6pm I think, so you had the tide with you one way, and against you the other, then on the final stretch you had it with you again.

I seen another post on here earlier about someone asking if it was safe to bring their child to the pool with cuts. A swimmer cut his foot on some glass before race, he was advised not to swim, but he laughed and shrugged his shoulders and said "Ah no way, the bleeding will stop" :D

So Roll on the next race next Saturday&Sunday...

Oh Thanks to NAC for organising the race and the lovely food after it....

It was my first time doing the docklands swim & thanks to the westlife hoards on the trains i nearly didn't make it! Well done Martin & hopefully he won't be too nasty to my handicap after saturdays swim.

Must say that not having the pre-go's is a much better idea & the numbered hats for the year is also going to be a big improvement.

Was pleasantly surprised with the water temp & cleanliness which was excellent! Will be in Spain next weekend so roll on the Bull Wall on th19th!(which will be another 1st for me!)
