    My dad is very technologically indifferent and uses a bill phone. I was contemplating getting him to upgrade to a new iPhone 3GS (the 16GB on O2 for €199), and then when he gets it, give him my current phone and use the iPhone on my pre-pay account, while still availing of my free texts to all networks with €20 top-up a month.

    What do I need to do to make that work? Or is it even possible?

    Once your on 02 you just put your sim in and it will work no problem

    Except your Dad will paying off the iPhone for the next 18 months while you get to use it! Also, you should consider that smart phones will use a lot of data. This can cost a lot if YOUR mobile account does not have a data bundle.
