Company Car Sold as Private-Scam?

Hi all, wondering if anyone could help. Bought a used car from a reputable dealer a couple of years ago and ran into a load of problems-couple of catastrophic breakdowns.Company have tried to wash hands of obligations. Know nothing about cars but did ask at point of purchase whether it was a company car previously as it had high mileage and didn't want a car that had been run into the ground. Was told that the car was "private." Have subsequently discovered that while the previous owner was a registered private owner he had bought it from his company only a couple of months before trading it in to the dealership i purchased it off. Also the same dealership had originally sold car to his company. Sounds like a scam to me? Just wondering if anyone "in the know" could help. Dealership are denying I ever asked whether it was a company car. Any help greatly appreciated as has been a nightmare

Company car usually means one driver and a service history. This would be a big plus for me.

It had high mileage - things wear out. Can explain unreliability.

It was traded in by a private owner - is it possible that the salesman didnt know it was a company car previously?

If you're trying to return a car after a couple of years for very silly reason you need a reality check.

In saying that the salesman should not have been economical with the truth either
