Legislation to alter how demand deposits enter circulation has been written for the UK.

    http://www.bankofenglandact.co.uk/act/intro-part-1

    "A Bill to

Provide the Bank of England with the exclusive right to create and issue all currency; to protect fully the content of customer transaction accounts held with deposit taking institutions; and for connected purposes."

The bill is based on the book in my signature. It looks like there will be a campaign to advance it which will include an internship for an economics student:

    http://www.call4reform.org/internship

    www.call4reform.org/internship/research-internship

"Position 1: Research & Development of the Reform Proposal

The Researcher will be responsible for developing the reform proposal outlined at BankOfEnglandAct.co.uk into an academically-robust proposal with all the evidence, statistics and financial models necessary to stand up to academic scrutiny. You’ll deliver a thorough, indisputable critique of the existing system and show that the current banking system does not provide a solid basis for the economy. In the process, you’ll become a true expert in post-reform banking (knowing even more than the original designers of the proposal). This will stand you in good stead for any post-graduate study, any career in banking and finance (especially research & analysis), or as a consultant to governments around the world once the reform starts to be adopted (yes, really!)."

I've since changed my signature. The book is Creating New Money by Joseph Huber and James Robertson (here).
