    Hi All,

I'm just wondering if anyone knows of an independant garage that has a computer capable of flashing a 2000 e46 BMW ECU? Dont want to pay 85 bills for 10 mins work in a dealership.

From searching the internet the computer BMW used to use was MODIC. Think they may have moved on from that now but dont really know much about it. Other BMW forums have also suggested that a GT1 computer will do the job.

I did a quick search on Boards and couldn't find this question asked before but apoligies if it has been.

    Any help appreciated!

Sorry forgot to mention I am in Dublin.

As far as I know mosy indy garages will have diagnostic computer but will not be able to alter the settings contained in the ECU. I think the diagnostic computers only have one way communication!

    I stand to be corrected.

Well 85 euro for a ECU reflash at a dealer is a very reasonable price period.

You can go to any other BMW independant specialist, most would have Autologic/GT1 computers and would probably be charing around the same price anyway, if not more.

Any of the lads such as AC Car Sales in Dublin 8 (www.accarsales.ie), Chelmsford Motors, Ranelagh etc...will be able to sort you out.

Any indy that has a suscription up to date can get the latest ECU firmwares. So no problem, they would be the same as BMW.

not being smart but you wont get much done with these guys for €85. the gear required to do what you want is mega bucks. also a cip update can take up to 4 hours depending on your car.
