    custom build
Mavic 819s on Hope Pro 2 Hubs FTW
About 330euro for the pair and bullet proof.

    :-)

They also make a cool clicking sound when freewheeling that makes you appear to be a better mtb'er than you actually are.

For me - the best rims come from NoTubes (and the Roval Specialized wheels that copy the design) - best tubeless design out there.

If you are light, and for race only use, the ZTR 7000 type wheels are sweet (1218grams). But for more general racing/training these ones are great: http://clee-cycles.co.uk/cc/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/76_114/products_id/834?osCsid=6ef197e99399b1003232ac7111caa979

Or go for a more classic hub: http://www.justridingalong.com/shop.php?product=4213

I have the Podium MMX wheels on my race bike and love them.

The rims may be bomb proof but they are pretty heavy at 450 grams (versus 284 for the ZTR 7000 ones or 350 for the Olympics). One of the stated goals is to lighten up and i don't think the 819s are lighter than what he currently runs.

I'd go for the middle ground - Hope Pro IIs on Stans rims (355 or Olympic if you're after light weight). Super-easy to run them tubeless too.

i have the stans 355 rims on hope pro2.

excellent light, strong wheels and you can run standard or tubeless tyres without any fuss

got a good deal from http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/ about €280, although £ was weaker then
