Advice needed - Check this over pleaase

    Hey there folks, I am a 25 year old male, and type 1 diabetic. After a few years of college and all that goes with it, I have decided I can afford to lose a few Kgs(5 to be exact). So I started a new programme of training and diet this week.

    Firstly my stats
    Height: 5'7"
    Chest: 40"
    Shoulder:49"
    Waist: 33.5"
    Thigh: 22.25"
    Bicep: 14.5"
    Neck: 15.25"
    Body Fat: 15% on one machine, 20% on another, so somewhere around 18 or 19% I am guessing

    This week, I decided to cut my calories down a good deal, and calculated my BMR as being 1700kcal, I have gone down to an intake of about 1400kcal a day. I am taking in about 395kcal in Carbs, and 610kcal in Protein. The average food intake is looking a bit like this
    Breakfast
    Porridge (30g) and Milk (170ml)
    Orange Juice (150ml)
    NitroPro Protein (30g in water)

    Lunch
    (Usually right after workout)
    NitroPro Protein (30g in water)
    Tuna (85g)
    2x Eggs
    Natural Yogurt (100g)

    Snack
    Mixed Nuts (25g)

    Dinner
    Sweet Potato (150g) or Brown Rice (50g)
    Turkey Breast Steak (200g) or Tuna Fillet or Steak (225g)

    Pre Bed
    NitroPro Protein (30g in water)
    Mixed Nuts (25g)

    Strangely, I do not find myself hungry, at all, my blood sugars have become a lot more regular, and I am talking about half the insulin I took pre meal before starting this programme. Before anybody asks, I am not in a state of ketosis at all.

    In the Gym, I am doing the following:
    Monday: Chest & Triceps
    Tuesday: Back
    Wednesday: Core
    Thursday: Bicep and Shoulder
    Friday: Legs
    Saturday: Core

    Each day is about a 45 min to one hour session and is accompanied by either a run, cross trainer session, or depending on the day possibly both.

    Basically the advice I want is on if I am doing any real damage to myself in doing this. I am looking at this as a cut phase, which will next month be followed by about 2 months of Conditioning training followed by another 2 of Strength where I will be increasing my Calorie intake to about 2200-2400kcal a day, but sticking with low amounts of carbs, because frankly, I feel better all round on lower levels.

    Thoughts or advice are greatly appreciated.

    I'd check out Robb Wolf's blog - www.robbwolf.com - he's written some things up on CrossFit and Type 1 Diabetes. Could be very relevant to you about managing intensity and carbohydrate levels with exercise.

    Hi Odin

    Unfortunately as you have a medical condition (Type 1 Diabetes), personally, as I am not medically trained, I would not feel comfortable recommending changes to your diet or exercise routine, when I do not know what if any effects it would have on your condition.

    I would suspect that it is the same for most of the other folks on here also. The last thing any of us would want to do is to give advice which causes any reaction with your condition.

    Even with other folks who may have the same condition. What works for them may not necessarily work for you.

    I honestly feel that the best place to get feed back on your training and diet would be from professionally trained people who understand diabetes, and the effects of different foods and exercises on blood sugar levels..

    I'd agree with B-Builder there. While I wont close the thread on medical advice grounds, I certainly wouldn't feel qualified to offer any advice.
