teeth overly sensitive after fillings-should I go back?

    Hi,

about 2 weeks ago I got 2 fillings (last 2 teeth at the back, lower jaw).

1 filling was small, the other large. The dentist told me I would experience some sensitivity for a couple of days after but any time very cold or hot foods touch of those teeth I get a dart of pain.

It doesn't last long though, and as soon as those teeth get accustomed to the hot/cold food it doesn't hut so much anymore i.e if I eat ice cream, the first couple of times the ice cream makes contact with the teeth=pain, but then after the teeth get accustomed to the temp. they seem to be ok.

Is this normal, or should I go back to the dentist?

If I do go back, will I have to pay to sort it or should it be done FOC?

100 euro says they were white fillings ???

Go back, expect to pay nothing.

    Hi, thanks for the feedback.

Actually, the fillings were a mix of white and amalgam..he asked me which I would rather, as they were at the back, I said I wasn't fussy, and that if amalgam was safe, and lasted longer, I'd be happy with that.

The dentist then said there was some decay on the side of the tooth and suggested that he fill the side with white filling (as if wouldn't be used for biting/chewing and so would not be subject to much wear and tear) and the top of the tooth with amalgam. I went along with this.

Will he have to take the fillings out and start from scratch again? What is the likely cause of this?

    Thanks again.
