Hey hey. Me and my brother were thinking of clearing out our backgarden and building a BBQ and having a few parties out there over the summer. one of our main pieces was going to be a projector we could use for movies, maybe connect to a skybox for matches or hopefully connect to an xbox or wii for a bit of mad fun late at night :D

I've looked at only a few projectors and i've been reading through a few other sites trying to get ideas. I just want to know has anyone else here set up an outdoor projector system. What kind of projector did you get? screen? sound system? can it connect to consoles? price?! Any problems you found afterwards? any tips? pitfalls? what should i be looking out for in a projector?

Sorry about all the questions and what is probably no particular order to them its late now and i've work at seven. grrrrrrr.

Thanks for any help in this and any advice despite how unrelated or small would be greatly appretiated.

Outdoor and projection do not go well together for one reason. Sunlight.

If your thinking of using this at night, then you'll get a good picture from a 2500-3000lumens projector. If your thinking of using a projector in daylight forget it! unless you have loads of money to spend. For daylight (non sunlight) you will need a projector with over 5000 -8000 lumens.

If you are hoping to use a projector in sunlight then 20,000lumens will be needed. About €10,000+.

Projector are used in the USA for outdoor cinema's but always used at night as they have the weather for this. Dont think you'll get many nights warm enought here to get much use from an outdoor cinema?
