Gold/Silver mining shares

Hi.

I've never invested in shares before and i was wondering what would be the best option for me to invest in one or two of the following gold/silver mining companies; should i open an online account with sharewatch.com, or go directly to a stockbroker? My plan is to buy the shares and hold onto them for 2-3 years.


So, what do ye think of the following mining companies?

Have a look at Ovoca Gold (OVG), they have a nice cash reserve invested in a gold fund along with mining opportunities so you get exposure to gold shares and direct exploration and mining.
