HELP!! MY SIM IS LOCKED

    Hi,

My friend put his iphone 2nd Gen into my laptop and I accidentally upgraded the firmware. After the update, it now says that:

"the sim card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported. Only compatible SIM cards from a supported Carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported Carrier's store to receive a replacement SIM card"

He is on o2 and before the update it was working fine. He's going to kill me unless I can fix it. I tried downgrading the firmware to 3.0 and the same thing happens.

Is there anything I can do?

    Please help

Sounds like the phone was jailbroken and unlocked, flashing the firmware would relock it in this case.

You didn't happen to accidentally back up the contents of the phone before your upgraded the firmware?

What firmware is it running now?
