Stupidly dropped my new Mp3 player down the toilet earlier. Put it in the hot press for couple hours and put hairdryer but I fear its fcuked, does anyone here have past experience of doing something similar and if so is there any way it can be saved?

Ive heard to put it in a ziplock bag with rice in the hot press, rice will absorb the moisture apparently!

I put my ipod shuffle and earphones in the wash a couple of months back, when I copped on I just let them dry out for a couple of days near a rad and they were fine.....actually they were spring fresh :D

    Its not working :(

I was planning on getting a new one as not sure whether receipt would cover it but haven't got round to doing it.

Argos are excellent for returns. I would just go in and say it stopped working and I would say you will get a new one.

You can get special calcium chloride in woodies or other hardware shops. They are white crystals intended for getting rid of damp in walls etc. If you put an item in a sealed tupperware container or jar with the object lifted off the crystals it will dry them out with out heating. For a stand you can bend something out of a coathanger.

It is important not to try turning it on unless you are certain it is dry. Also the water dries off leaving a thin layer of salt behind. I have heard of people washing it with distilled water (you can chip off ice in your freezer wall which is distillled water). I also wondered could you soak it in pure alcohol (not red meths), which should rinse the salt off and evaporate off quickly.

My phone fell in water and I put it in a conceled box full of rice for a few days ,works perfect now , might work for your mp3 player.
