Another busted Laptop

My HP Pavillion was knocked off a table, quite hard, and I now have trouble turning it on.

It will turn on, the fan buzzes away ok, but the thing is otherwise dead. It then turns itself off and back on again and nothing more happens. If i give it a bang on the left hand side of the mouse pad, it seems to sort itself out, until I move it or knock it and it then freezes so i have to do a battery pull.

It sounds pretty serious to me, do you think it is worth getting it fixed or just buy a new one? if the former, anyone used the laptop repair place in Dun Laoghaire?

    Cheers.

Im surprised the screen didnt break

is the laptop old, as now laptops are tuppence (mostly) and its hardly worth getting one repaired

2, we need to know more details on your laptop and spec.

have you tried re seating the memory modules?

a number of things could be wrong, but its impossible to say without looking at it.

if you have an external drive, back up everything asap. check your memory modules, and do a new windows install

I've done all the above, even checked the hard drive etc.

It is an HP pavillion dv6000 which is about two years old. It wasn't cheap and apart from the battery being on its way out, is a bloody good laptop. The screen is ok btw, which is a miracle.

I think it needs a complete strip down.
