Mike Hannon's My Beamish Boy screens on RTÉ One, Bank Holiday Monday June 7th at 7pm

The much-loved two hundred year old brewery has shut its gates forever. As they reminisce, the ex-workers must come to terms with their grief at its closure. Suffused with bittersweet memories and wry affection, these are the stories of the famous Beamish and Crawford Brewery. All things must end, but the human spirit persists.

My Beamish Boy was awarded the Made in Cork Award for Best Short Film at the Corona Cork Film Festival 2009, and was screened at the Chicago Irish Film Festival and at the Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival, 2010.

It is the first programme to be screened on Irish national television that was shot on a DSLR. Read an interview with Mike Hannon on the technical and economic issues in developing a project of this nature here:

The film will be available for viewing on the RTÉ Player website for three weeks after the broadcast date.

I saw this and thought it was a brilliant story and portrayal.

I have been recommending it to people to watch but when I looked for it on the player no sign either. Any news would be appreciated. I have also email rte regarding it so will update if I hear anything.
