A HSE NAS paramedic was killed today in the line of duty. Am not going to release details at the moment out of respect for his family & colleagues but it was a tragic accident which never should have happened.

Deepest sympathies to his family & colleagues

the ambulance service is a small enough community, so any news like this is very sad.

my thoughts are with his freinds, family and close colleagues.

My sympathies to the family etc also. Tragic stuff - seems the side door opened in motion. A terrible thing to happen, obviously we wont discuss the details.

Tragic and sad, a young family left without their Father, a young wife loses her husband as he performs his duties of which he loved doing.

Paramedics from surrounding regions will be filling the rosters to ensure all the closest colleagues and friends of Simon can attend his funeral.

To all my friends, colleagues and peers in all areas of the Emergency Services, have a very safe bank holiday weekend.

    Rest In Peace Simon.
