Hi I'm just in the process of buying the above car. The car has around 120k miles done but its in very good nick both inside and out. The timing belt was changed recently and I'm told there is a good service history with the car with recipts for as much work as he's had done.

I'm going to review the history and paperwork but I've had a good look through the car and it checks out. I've also done a cartell check on it and everything looks to be in order.

Is there anything that I should be checking or and big no's that should put me off the car. I've looked at the under body of the car and it looks clean without damage the plastic engine cover on the bottom is uncracked and looks fairly good. There doesnt apear to be any oil leaks and the engine bay looks generally clean. None of the fluid/water reivoirs look low and doesnt appear to have ever been marked. I could go on but it generally it looks clean the guy selling has a genuine reason and all in all comes across pretty decent.

Also for when I get the car I can go through it more throughly again but should I service it straight away to be sure or what would you sugest. Is there anything major should be done. Should I be using synthetic oils do I need to replace the gearbox fliud etc etc.

Yes fully synthetic oil - always.
If it is a 6-speed, some of them can be weak but this will have been replaced by now.
Things to look out for are :
    • cv joints
    • window regulators
    • (6-speed) gearboxes
    • Alternator
    • front suspension (bushings mainly but shocks go too)
    • EGR valve
What year is the car? All of the above have been replaced (accept the ERG valve) on my car.

Had one for 4 years 6 speed sport.

Sis driving it now, still love getting the odd spin.

    I replaced

window reg drivers side DIY job cost me about 100 euro
Radiator leak DIY again with assistance of old man on driveway.

There were a few suspension bits on my last service worn bushes and a track rod end.

Should all be caught in a good inspection by a mechanic.

Absolutely loved driving it. Still looks fresh after 9 years and 117k miles.
the 130 should pull like a train.

See if the MAF has been replaced in all the receipted work.

Its the 01 SE version which I think corresponds to comfortline in ireland.

Car is spottless all electrics are working windows/doors etc. not sure about the MAF and other things will check the service history.
