'Golden Girl' star McClanahan dies at 76

    Star of 'The Golden Girls' Rue McClanahan has died at the age of 76.
    The Emmy-award winning actress, who played the character of Blanche Devereaux in the hit TV series, died early Thursday morning of a stroke.
    Her manager Barbara Lawrence told People, "She passed away at 1am". Lawrence added that McClanahan "had her family with her. She went in peace."

    McClanahan had heart bypass surgery in 2009.
    She starred on 'Golden Girls' with Beatrice Arthur who died in 2009, Estelle Getty who died in 2008, and Betty White.

    Only 76...........very sad...

    Still a great comedy show , even by todays standards...

    Definitely.... caught some episodes recently (my brother is a big fan) and it still stands up well today. It's alot funnier than many of the so-called comedies on TV these days.

    Sad seeing them all go, a good old show, amazing how little female-centric comedy hasn't improved on it.
